Building Pathology – The surveying equivalent of a Doctor’s visit to diagnose the problem and prescribe a cure

the short answer

Building Pathology is the identification of defects and problems in buildings of all shapes and sizes. These problems can be small or large - from woodworm through to collapsing walls and floors. It might relate to roof leaks or problems with damp basements. We report on these defects, their likely cause and how they should be put right. This is occasionally straightforward, but often, especially with listed buildings, involves special techniques, and a good deal of lateral thinking.

Specialist attention is required for buildings of listed or special status to help comply with listed building legislation and in similar fashion to our other activities, applies to commercial and residential buildings alike. We carry all necessary testing equipment to identify types of building defects such as rising dampness, the presence of salts, wood-boring insects, fungal attack and other building defects.
