Disability Aids & Adaptations – life can be hard, don’t make it harder!
the short answer
What are aids and adaptations? These are physical alterations to your home. They can range from simple things like grab rails to help you out of the bath, to ramps and alterations such as a stair lift.
We will produce the specification for the work recommend by an occupational therapist, organise for a builder to carry out the work and then check to make sure the work has been properly completed. Where it’s possible to do so and where it’s required we will make the adaptations as discreet as possible.
If you, or someone you live with, find it difficult to get around your home, you need to be assessed by an occupational therapist. S/he will work out what your needs are. The occupational therapist may work for your district, borough or county council or even your health authority, depending on where you live. Your local council or GP will be able to tell you who to speak to but if you need help we can put you in touch with the right team.
What is a disabled facilities grant? This is money towards the cost of adaptations you need to help you live in your home. The amount of grant you get depends on your income. The maximum grant available is £25,000. Your local council will assess your application and decide whether you can have a grant. Delaware Services Ltd can assist you with your application.
